Touratech side carrier for BMW R12 G/S – designed for the sporty lightweight rear frame

The Touratech side carrier for the BMW R12 G/S has been specifically developed for the sporty and lightweight rear frame of this motorcycle. The design follows the core philosophy of the machine: low weight, high dynamics, and maximum control – even when fully loaded for travel.

The side carrier is made from 18 mm stainless steel tubing with a 2 mm wall thickness and offers high stability for touring and off-road use. At the same time, it is intentionally designed for soft luggage only, as higher and especially rigid loads would unnecessarily stress the lightweight rear frame from our perspective.

Extensive real-world off-road testing has proven this solution to be the optimal balance between stability and material protection. Luggage is securely guided while vibrations and peak loads are not transferred uncontrollably into the rear section. The close vehicle-specific mounting reduces leverage forces and ensures clean load transfer. The system is further enhanced by a connection to the luggage rack and a reinforced cross brace for additional stability.

With only 52 cm width, the R12 G/S remains slim, agile, and fully off-road capable – with luggage approx. 90 cm wide and therefore still narrower than the handlebar.
